Living in Queens comes with perks, like meeting Coach G at the Alchemist Boxing Club, one of JJ Sullen’s most recent afternoon walk discoveries. True to form, JJ makes fast friends, puts people at ease, and somehow makes everyone look like they belong on a magazine cover.
His work with real people is raw, genuine, and captivating. This Boxing Club project is no exception. JJ spent a day at the gym photographing, filming, listening to old school hip hop, and soaking up wisdom from Coach G.
What’s next? JJ is planning a dedicated piece on Coach G. “It didn’t take long to see how he’s shaping these kids, using boxing to build confidence, resilience, and self reliance in the neighborhood’s youngest fighters.”
