Aleks Kingo takes on the Gen Z stare, and all the discomfort that comes with it.

 

This triptych leans into that blank, unreadable expression that somehow manages to say a lot by saying nothing. Aleks finds it funny and a little eerie. “It feels like a small cultural glitch, a look that says nothing and somehow still manages to provoke so much.”

 

It also became Aleks’ way of engaging with AI on her own terms. Starting with real images of model Marnie, shot in a London studio with a full creative team, she used those frames as a foundation, building outward with AI as a tool rather than a shortcut. The result feels considered, controlled, and still carries her signature conceptual, creative touch.

 

“I’m not interested in AI as a replacement for people, taste, or image-making. But I am interested in poking at it, questioning it, and seeing whether it can be used in a way that still feels authored.”
