Nils Ericson spent multiple days in Tuscaloosa with the Crimson Tide, shooting their practices and games for Nike. The approach was cinema verité: follow the team and shoot the story as it unfolds naturally, everything captured in-the-moment rather than staged.
Nils works with a documentary eye, showing up ready for the moment inside the movement and catching the scenes as they happen. His images are gritty and real, finding beauty in the ordinary. On a team sports shoot, where the real moments only happen once, that instinct is crucial.
The project has since grown to include softball and baseball coverage, with more programs in the works, and the hopes of starting of an ongoing series between Nils and Nike.
