Marry Me x Photographer Aleksandra Kingo
Project: Marry Me
The brief was a proposal gone wrong. Aleks made sure it went wrong beautifully.
Marry Me is a European natural diamond engagement brand. The campaign was built around one idea: if the groom and the ring are right, it doesn't matter how spectacularly the proposal falls apart.
The initial concept and the blue palette came from the brand. Where it went from there was the result of a genuinely collaborative back and forth between Aleks and the creatives, who gave her real room to push the idea somewhere playful, surreal, and a little unhinged.
Together they built this incredibly meticulous chain of romantic disaster. The waiter trips, champagne drops, doves fly everywhere, the cake starts to fall, and a pony, presumably brought in by the groom for extra romance, begins chewing on the tablecloth. It was this very orchestrated, beautifully art-directed in-camera chaos, which is always Aleks' favorite kind.
That kind of precision matters even more when the product is a diamond. The comedy only works if the frame stays elegant, and keeping those two things in balance is its own creative challenge. High-end brands in this category tend to play it safe and serious. This one didn't, and that creative trust shows in every frame.
Aleks put it best: "I loved the idea of taking something as polished and emotionally loaded as an engagement ring and placing it in the middle of absolute romantic chaos. The whole shoot was about making everything go wrong in exactly the right way, beautifully, precisely, and with a pony casually eating the tablecloth."
If you like bright colors, funky pallets, and meticulously orchestrated creative chaos, Aleks' portfolio is right this way.
