For Girlhood, Bekah Ridings set out to capture the energy of being in a room full of women, playful, supportive, and full of life. The project explores the fun of being a girl at every stage of life. “I wanted to show the connection of women across life stages, as well as honor the little girl inside of us.”
That sense of play carries through every detail, from styling to beauty, inspired by early memories of dumping out your mom’s makeup bag and experimenting. Casting was intentionally diverse across age, race, and body type, creating space for more women to see themselves reflected in the work. Hair and makeup followed that same approach, with a focus on skin-first beauty and a playful, nostalgic edge.
Bekah built a team grounded in collaboration and positive energy, creating space for ideas to evolve naturally on set. As she shares, “Pulling together a team is my favorite part of prepping a shoot. When the energy is right, we’re able to flow seamlessly and create images we’re all proud of.”
